Wiedenmann - "only the best"
Wiedenmann was founded in Germany in 1964 by Gertrud and Georg Wiedenmann. Wiedenmann GmBH bases their reputation on consistency and reliability, with the guiding principle of "only the best". The philosophy has enabled the company to grow into one of the leaders in the field of turf maintenance. Wiedenmann GmBH is now successfully managed by Gertrud and Georg's sons Jurgen, Horst and Uwe Wiedenmann and has expanded to locations throughout the world.
Terra Spike XF – The revolution in deep aeration
The principle of "time is money" applies now more than ever to professional turf care. Whether it's sports grounds or golf courses you have to maintain, the amount of time you have at your disposal is becoming increasingly limited while the players place ever more exacting demands on the quality of turf. Regular decompaction and deep aeration are vital to healthy root growth. Breaking up compacted soil allows the roots to penetrate deeper into the ground and make better use of water and nutrients. The flow of water and the air balance are improved, thatch is removed, and the shear strength is increased.
In the past, this maintenance work used to be a time-consuming task – in spite of all technical innovations. The new generation of TERRA SPIKE® XF deep tine aerators by Wiedenmann has revolutionized turf care and set new standards with regard to speed, productivity and quality of work. Aerify and decompact your turfs down to a depth of 22 cm (8 ½") at travel speeds up to 5.7 km/h (3.5 mph). Save up to 60% of thex time you previously spent for this maintenance work.

A Devastating Fire – Two Complete Fleets of Golf Course Equipment Destroyed
Sometimes people ask me, "What makes John Deere equipment so special?" At the end of the day, it is more than just building great equipment! This article and video is an example of John Deere commitment and integrity to the industry they serve; these values are not just words, but something they live and breathe.
There's nothing like twenty-foot high flames and the fireworks of exploding fuel tanks to mark a real bond being formed.
At least that's what Barefoot Resort found in the aftermath of a devastating fire that destroyed two fleets of leased equipment in May of 2009. Resolving to keep operating normally, the management contacted John Deere Golf to see how it could help.
Knowing this was their busiest time of the year, John Deere Golf distributor, Revels Turf & Tractor, acted fast, coordinating with John Deere Financial to enable a rapid and comprehensive response.
How fast? Within 24 hours, the resort had all the equipment it needed for immediate maintenance, and within 36 hours, two complete replacement fleets. All without money changing hands.
All proving, as General Manager Dave Genevro said, "We're not just loan XYZ, they actually know us."
So if you are looking for an organization you can forge that kind of relationship with - instead of just business as usual - talk to us.

Epic Blue Water Grand Prix – Steady Improvement
This was a great race course that featured a land rush start that included six laps around an eleven mile course. The race started from the parking lot of the Blue Water Casino, and then continued through the surrounding hills and washes. The finish was located in the pit area along the banks of the majestic Colorado River.
Scott explained that the race started well, but the fuel delivery problem we encountered in our last race didn't take long to show itself. "I had to get out of the car every five miles to bleed the fuel system that cost us valuable time. We thought we had isolated the problem in the last race with a faulty check valve in the fuel cell – we'll just keep looking till we find it."
Scott's John Deere race team ended up finishing sixth in class out of thirteen, eighth overall out of eighteen. This puts the team in a tie for seventh in points out of eighteen cars. What is encouraging is that the vehicle was running ahead of the third place finisher most of the race.
Now comes a huge race – the team is looking forward to the grueling TSCO Vegas to Reno, August 18th,19th,20th. Scott shared, "This is the longest off- road race in the United States; this 550 mile race will be a true test of reliability and tell us where we are with this vehicle."
All eighteen cars have had their share of mechanical issues this year except for Parks who is currently leads the pack in "The Best of the Desert Series". The goal for Scott's team will be to finish – something only five vehicles have accomplished in the last three years in the TSCO Vegas to Reno race.
The focus in the next couple of months must be solving the fuel problem.
Good Luck!

Proper Trailer Suspension
Wherever the road may take you, look to AA Equipment for expert trailer repair and parts assistance.
As part of a routine maintenance program the trailer's suspension system should be examined to make sure it is in good working order. Unfortunately that same level of attention is not always paid to the trailer's suspension. As Tony Archer, at our El Cajon store location, points out "trailers and their components are not maintenance-free, and like all trailer components, trailer suspensions need to be checked and maintained on a regular basis in order to ensure proper function". This could save you or your company time and money in the long run, or possible serious liability.
Today we will be reviewing the components that make up the suspension system on most utility trailers used today, and critical inspection procedures to ensure safe operation.
| As always feel free to contact Tony Archer at (619) 579-0484 or email tarcher@aaequip.com. Tony has over 24 years experience in the trailer industry and would be happy to discuss any questions you might have. Our El Cajon location carries a large inventory of trailer parts in stock. This gives our other four AA Equipment store locations trailer parts to pull from, and ensures quick parts availability. |
Typical Utility Trailer Suspension
Differences Between Double Eye Spring Systems and Slipper Spring Systems
- Shape of spring
- Weight capacity of double-eye springs is generally lower than slipper springs
- More moving parts, more parts to maintain on a double-eye suspension
- Generally rides more smoothly than slipper springs
Hangers Illustration

Hangers are the system's point of attachment to the trailer.
- Hangers are welded to the frame
- Hangers are used to suspend:
- Note: There are always 2 more hangers than springs in a suspension system. For example, if there are 4 springs in a kit, you will have 6 hangers.
Types of Hangers
- Front - always suspends front of leaf spring (closest to tow vehicle)
- Center - suspends equalizers
- Rear - suspends leaf springs directly or via shackle straps
Hanger Dimensions
- Width:
- Height
- Distance from the center of the bolt hole to the top of the hanger
- Different heights provide varying levels of clearance for the trailer
- Hangers for a single system do not have to be of equal height
- Bolt hole diameter
- Most hangers for double-eye springs require 9/16" diameter x 3" long bolts
Leaf Springs
Leaf springs act as the shock absorbers of the suspension system. Their flexing action when you go over bumps and rough road smooths the trailer ride.
